Overview

OMEN is a developer name but is entirely appropriate for the
OMEN is Nemo spelled backwards
OMEN Island is a huge rusted metal structure built half way up the reef wall that can raise and lower to hide its presence
The cradle for constructing the sub fleet and underwater training such as sub flooding

Initially only penetrated from the Bunker-Lagoon route
A grand entrance into the underwater kingdom
The source of the explorer's personal min-sub Dolphin and therefore the Nautilus Fleet and so it is the entrance to all the underwater kingdom

Broad Theme

Could have 2 names. Have called it INMO island at times as homage to OMNI magazine. INMO - The original name that celebrates the artificial islands greatness. While Omen points to the inevitable technological rifts
the OMEN island complex celebrates science and is full of art/scientific applications
science - the structure and purpose should be all about the Nemo view of technology and knowledge as the key to saving humanity from its self - artistically in contrast with the bunker complex which is sparse except for the lagoon window
OMEN island is a man-made complex attached to the reef on the lagoon side
a capturing of different places and times and mind spaces - lots of cool interactive gadgets - scientific instruments actually showing some scientific principles

Omen island Details

Nemo: "My ultimate accomplishment. This monument of my creations always takes me to the day I decided to act on my boyhood ideals. I gathered supporters into long sessions deep into the fathoms of many nights. We felt a vigor and euphoria as I found many opportunities to drag them into the mysterious powers of the deep, available for us against all tyrannies. The abyss was mine.."
Nemo: "It was once cast as Savior Island to announce its place in history. Now i must call it OMEN Island. It created its own future. It was all destruction. And now its terrain shifts in my mind. I try to stuff it with the chaos that sometimes reigns in my mind. I like that it now, is the science part of my mind in war with the art of destruction. My struggles against humanity was in the name of oppression, but I only found that it is this struggle against it that will destroy us. The upping of the technological ante, year, after year. I can no more subdue the tyrants than they can subdue the revolutionaries

underwater light show as colored glass is used to color sunrays and reflect them through the gentle waves inside the lagoon - diffused in water - could use OMEN island as a giant screen

a piece of art that does random transformations in dream-shapes - somewhere in the OMEN complex - showing conflict? Emotion etc. - for pure art, have a Nemo water sculpture with bubbles going inside it - see thru with colored lights from underneath that the explorer can control - so the light going through the statues plays on the surrounding wall/structure - a piece that transforms on its own from dolphin to sea-horse to octopus to angel fish, etc. from out of a pool of water in an upside down half sphere - maybe between the transformations, the water goes to full sphere
mounted specimens of the giant crab and giant beetle that rule the west side of island
frozen gallery of extinct species in OMEN island could be mysterious
evidence of old netting on the OMEN island - was it for restricting dolphins - the dream creature - world in and out of balance - so whole island hints at the captivity that Nemo supposedly vanquished from the very same island
the water streams off the top of the island as the tide drops
a chance to have labs that actually teach - such as mockups of the sun, moon and earth to teach how we see the different phases of the moon as seen from earth - if it is interactive and pretty - they will come - the participant could be sucked into the scale of the models and put on the surface of mockup earth and through faster motion of the mockup see how all related - planisphere (solar system) manipulated by the explorer to change the seasons of Nemo's Mind just for that explorer- it would be cool if all could walk around in their own season, weather and time of day - catches that all in the mind thing
only way to walk on surface of lagoon is through equipment from OMEN island
contents of OMEN island can shift around or be replaced on a continual basis for continued revisiting
piles of treasure and cannons on the ocean floor side of the artificial island
The Island is also a repository for recovered treasure to fund Nemo's navy
Ancient relics and the most beautiful treasures are inside the island such as Greek amphoras
The island is a giant cradle for making or repairing subs - so the explorer can see this from outside or inside (huge windows) and catwalks
A warehouse of sub parts and construction of new subs - According to the book Nemo put all the parts of his sub together from many different sources around the world and even lists real existing manufacturers of the time period. Many of the parts should have these manufacturers labeled on the shipping containers and the ports they were sent from and to - and the actual parts and addresses from makers to different ports around the world - boards detailing where and what parts are in production and ordered
Outside the Island is a new sub in state of building or an old one being repaired or refitted - this changes continually
completely underwater at all times except low tide - huge rusty metal structure attached to the reef - could explore exterior somewhat by swimming
lots of laboratories and experimenting - metallurgy etc

The Mobile Fleet

operable copies of Nautilus (the fleet) allows lots of underwater sight seeing - each has its own specialty attraction/ability and some architectural differences
location of a sub is dependent on other participants controlling them or abandoning for the mini-sub - mini-sub Dolphin can home in and latch onto a nautilus so explorer can hop into big subs - set on auto-cruise by depth from the bottom so it will circle the island
make the sub capable of auto-pilot - so the explorer can enjoy the sites at the underwater circular windows while playing a game of chess - chess is so Nemo (and the game is used as metaphor here for any other activity the participants can do while the Nautilus moves around the island - a great atmospheric place to converse at least while hearing the hum of machinery and the natural sounds of water
an anchored or un-anchored boat that is not under power aligns with wave and current and wind direction
player will want to go see the underwater section of 1st and 2nd dream structures by Nautilus or all three (third area is shallow swamp) by mini-sub Dolphin - ruins that couldn’t look at closely before - so to see the structures from a height as a preview of the 2nd set of underwater ruins you can see it from high cliffs on north eastern side of volcano - height/straight down angle is how you see down into water and see creatures etc.
huge thing to explore - can steer it but need to use buoyancy controls too if not on auto-pilot - sub is also steered by funneling effect so no crashing of the Nautilus
surfaced subs rock in the surf/waves so the screen rocks if you are on one - slowly of course for the video motion sick
When explorer cuts out of NM while on a Nautilus then that is where they come back but of course it has moved since then but your mini-sub is still attached
