The Open Terrain Monitor
The Nemo's Mind downloads monitor the state of Unreal's ultimate holy grail. We will explore all the solutions and techniques for reaching those expansive landscapes as the Unreal engine evolves. We will have true forests of several biomes visible from the observatory! We will! For now we show the evolving state of landscape features like PCG and nanite landscapes, and tessellation, etc
The Learning Forum
We will do this through our Discord forum and evolving the our 8k terrain to a 16k terrain to prove the viability of the Nemo's Mind chat world.
Along the way we will speed up the development of Unreal newbies with our heavily commented editor project to be downloaded and explored by hands-on building of landscapes and foliage and BluePrint exercises for spinning towers and BluePrint controlled loading and unloading of levels into your persistent level. This editor level is the easiest way to quickly move around in the vast panels and modes in the editor! You will learn how to manipulate the editor in one week instead of taking a year to catch these tricks by YouTube.
Promote and Inspire
We show off the small studio Unreal developers and content creators. We have the Asset page here to credit the amazing high assets worthy of a chat world and beyond the game world. We will put your name on any content creation you do. Start a level that will go into our map. Put your name on it for your portfolio. We will inspire more community minded projects based on a learning environment!
The Downloads
The runtime package and the Unreal editor project. The demo is a permanently evolving, aesthetic, proof of the coming chat worlds and shows the assets we are using in the Nemo's Mind world. The downloadable Unreal editor project, is an easy way to quickly harness the power of BluePrints. It can quickly show new users of Unreal how to run around inside the editor and give some tricks, even experienced users overlook.

It is time to have an alternative to the video tutorial. You can come back to our project repeatedly, and even better you can use our editor project as the base of your own levels, to see how to use arrays and vectors in a hundred ways, and cut and paste bits into your projects. And if you need help with that, then go to the Nemo's Mind Discord for answers, and for involvement with the project. Our insidious plan is to help develop new users and get a few of you back when you want to produce.

Beyond AAA game constraints to full, UNREAL, interactive beauty.
Can we get those vast forests, that are already waiting in the wings, into your maps? How do we control how much is exposed on the map? Is it all nanite? Shadow maps? World Partition? Sublevels? RVT (Realtime Virtual Textures)? What is RVT? I see it in discussions of wind, blending meshes into the landscape, and confusing it with WPO (World Position Offset)? We do all the experiments and make it fun and get results. Unreal can be endless experimenting. We give you direction to experience the Unreal open terrain ability.
Everything in the Unreal world is a hobby in itself; landscapes, animation, AI, coding, it never ends. Have you tried making a package of your project? Do you really want to do everything to get a project off the ground? Tackle the chat code and the packaging of the project and the other facets of a polished tech demo? Once a tech demo reaches Unreal's standards then we will get momentum to polish and gain speed.
All of this is a viable way to support the portfolio machine. Do you want your name in the credits of the ultimate and ever evolving, and persistent Unreal proof of concept? No one can do it alone. Proofs of concept like our real time demonstration of the Unreal aesthetic, are an avenue that has not been explored for collaborative work. To support all of us wannabe's clawing our way into the AAA sphere and for all of us who want to create beauty as only Unreal can.
The Aesthetic download is proof the Unreal Light is just waiting for us. The Nemo's Mind Discord is a learning, evolving process with the Aesthetic download as the motivational guiding light.
One person can create the Aesthetic download and the BluePrint download . A few of us can learn and and add to the evolving downloads, and a few of us can make the Nemo's Mind chat world and be mentors, as part of a discord learning environment along the way.

What is missing in the Unrealverse? Epic has only a few tech demos to show the pure beauty of Unreal. It has been a few years. Lyra is a tech demo to show the way for the future game developer. But Lyra has zero aesthetics and zero artistic expression. It was not built to inspire aesthetics. None of the previous demos are big enough, to wow through the years. Epic released Valley of the Ancient, alongside the long awaited UE5. It is already forgotten. The key feature was data layer system and unfortunately the demo did not leverage Unreal's ability to load in the background. It shows some game features with a lot of lag and little artistic inspiration. It shows a large vista that is all background terrain.
The latest demos are Electric Dreams and Hillside. They show the capability of the engine or features that are experimental. But again no art or theme. Epic is missing the persistent, go-to, flagship demo that will evolve over time to show the beauty of the Unreal light. As a proof of concept for the strength of a chat world, that is primarily reliant on the art - our demonstration will be easy to update on a regular basis through the years alongside Unreal's evolution. It is time for the rise of the Aesthetics!
A theme through out this design is the Unreal light = beauty = aesthetics. Why hasn't the Unreal light shined? The most recent development - small studios evolving high end assets that are beyond the Unreal gaming ability and not being put to use. Some are absolutely amazing but haven't evolved to cinematic use. This aesthetic proof of concept will evangelize a new use for the high assets as the Aesthetic demo proves Unreal is ready for Chat worlds that go beyond the rendering capability of the video game. We will be put it to full magic in the Nemo's Mind aesthetic download and the resulting chat world.
The Nemo's Mind learning forum and the resulting chat world, will evolve around 2 downloads. The realtime package is a high ender's desktop product (made on RTX 3090 for use of 3090 and over) for the use of Unreal high-enders. The editor project will not contain the high end commercial assets but will have stand in meshes, and materials, to expose the BluePrints used in the packaged demonstration of the high end assets of the coming chat worlds.
The downloads are the ultimate show of Unreal's might. This is the product that will prove the viability of high assets, that aren't available in video games and sequencer (some are evolving toward sequencer/cinematic usability. See our Assets Page to see the high assets we pursue. These are very recent assets in the Unrealverse - we are at the very edge of Unreal's powerful capability! We plan to stay at the forefront of everything of the Unreal aesthetic.
In the era of Unreal 5, any of us can produce content. Any of us can gravitate toward what catches our interest, animation, modeling, landscapes, environment design, it is endless. Pick your area(s) and put your name and your added features on the credits.
Note - It isn't just the BPs. Our highly commented nodes will excite your evolution and the commentary also tells you plainly how it all connects between BluePrints and the actors in your level. For instance we will expose the many steps to plugging in the landscape paint layers. The editor project download will evolve by all of us as we figure out the gaps in our conversations on the discord.
Our BP download is the gateway for you to quickly see the BP impact on your Unreal adventure. Our BPs allow you to go as deep as you are ready. You can instantly see where it all goes with polished, organized, commented blueprints! Where is the heavily commented BP out there? You will quickly see that you can do your own thing or join in on the development of the Nemo's Mind chat world and the evolution of the downloads.
BPs offer us the artistic interaction, the game industry has yet to fully exploit. Our BP will have the shiniest examples of code. "How did you make that 6 spire tower and then make it rotate?"
With the Aesthetic realtime download and the BluePrints as the arena...the Nemo's Mind discord is the gateway for countless future Unreal developers. Blue prints and beauty will inpsire all new Unreal hopefuls!

The simplest criteria for interaction is SURREAL. Surreal is not the best word for what we are chasing here but it does open the horizons for BP interactions. We will see examples in the first version of the Aesthetic and BP downloads. As simple as an invisible castle that only shows some translucent structure of the nearest architecture to the viewer, as they look down through a floor that is 5 stories up, to the park like terrain below.
Our code ranges from simple spinning towers and turning on and off the igneous orb, to heavier code that leave the safety of the Level BluePrint. Don't know what that means? Come ask us at the discord server and your journey begins. Or download the demo and the editor project.
We have2 heavier code examples. The first one shows off the AnimX developer's amazing AI! The deep and adaptable code of Indie Cat's animation and AI. We have already adapted Indie Cat code to have a pack of creatures pacing along with, and ahead of the player controlled creature. Navigation points control where the animals pause - to wait for the player to trigger their movement forward. I never get over the gaze of this Ukrainian developer's creatures, as they swivel their gaze to you, as you close the distance. We don't give you the developers code of course but you can use our outer shell of code to get your critters or bipeds rollling. and of course later on, if you prove ownership of an AnimX advanced critter then we can share and credit the outer scripting...
The second deeper BP - We will have multiple maps and add more over time to show off the evolving features of Unreal such as PCG, RVT, etc. But those maps will have well documented and commented BPs to randomly and seamlessly connect landscapes loaded in and out of the terrain as you explore it.
And those 2 BPs? They combine to allow a pack of foxes to move with you, to nav points chosen off of the player character's movement, as you cross into those random plots of terrain.
This is one of the interactive assets to keep all who are fascinated by Unreal, to keep coming back to this tech demo. Such as Wolves bobbing and swimming down a river in a race with a fellow chat explorer.

The downloads and the discord forum are the proof of concept, and are plenty strong enough to get a community project going. And then there is the design document for the full island that is the Nemo's Mind chat world. Some will say this design document alone is enough of a developmental base alone to get a community project rolling.
The 2 web pages, Maps and Landscapes both give you access to a quarter of a million words of inspiration and idea generating.

Two entities for content creation and evolving alongside Unreal - the demo and the full island chat world. It is a resource for art, design and Blue Print portfolios. There are plenty of design notes on this web site fleshing out the island that is Nemo's Mind. The document gives a good feel for the island that is the surreal mind. You will have all the opportunity to put your spin on the brainstorming in place so far. If you are the first to put a terrain together then you will always have your name attached. If you add or improve on an environment and it makes it into the project then your name is added on to that terrain.
This high end, big desk top product, is for us! For Unreal! Building on the future. High enders first! The first versions of the chat world will be our private domain.
Right out of the box we will have 2 person chat as a sounding board for Unreal developers and us creators to walk within.

Pick a terrain from the design and wander. You make it and others will pick up the pieces and improve on your first take. Every architecture and mesh and light in the terrain can be improved over time. A constantly evolving product. That is the power of a chat world - it will be a societal constant through the decades and centuries.
Priorities. What are the areas needing the most attention? Giving constructive criticism on the areas you are not working on, and helping to prioritize tasks, is always the edge for the learning environment we are fostering. Our best asset may end up being the list of priorities pointing out the weakest areas in the collection of tech demos.
Not all of us will be in the middle of the video game evolution. But any of us can create in the ultimate real time graphics engine. If you want your creation to become a part of an evolving art piece that will outlive us all, then a project like this is an ideal avenue. If you want to create an environment to fit in to this blueprint then see if any of them excite you to start with the base and add your own ideas.
